Which car phone holder should I buy?+
Look at your air vents. Horizontal slats with space behind them suit the Hook Mount; thin, rounded or vertical blades suit the Clip Mount. If you are not sure, or you switch between cars, the Dual Mount comes with both fixings. Our hook or clip guide has a quick test.
Will a magnetic car phone holder work with my phone?+
iPhone 12 and later with MagSafe attach directly. Other phones, including Android and the iPhone 16e and SE, use the round metal ring included with every mount. A thick case without magnets weakens the hold, so stick the ring on the outside of the case.
Is it legal to use a phone holder in the UK?+
Yes. GOV.UK allows hands-free use in a holder, as long as you do not hold the phone while driving and it does not block your view of the road. Holding and using a phone while driving is 6 penalty points and a £200 fine. See phone holders and the law.
Can I charge my phone in the holder?+
Yes, with the Wireless Charger, a magnetic disc that sits on either mount. It has a built-in 1 m USB-C cable and needs a USB-C car adapter of 9V 2A or more, not included.
Do magnets damage the phone?+
Apple's caution is about magnets or metal near the rear camera, which can interfere with image stabilisation. Keep the metal ring in the middle of the phone, away from the lenses. More in our compatibility guide.
